Appearance & Film Characteristics
Dry Film Thickness (DFT) : ISO 2808
An electronic gauge measures the cured coating thickness in microns (µ). The result ensures uniform coverage and optimal protective properties.
Gloss at 60° : ASTM D 523 standard
A light beam reflects off the surface at a 60-degree angle. The percentage result classifies the coating shine from matte to high-gloss.
Particle Size Distribution : Under 63 µ
Sieving measures the percentage of fine powder particles. The result ensures smooth powder fluidization and consistent electrostatic spraying.
Mechanical Durability & Strength
Impact D/R (Direct/Reverse) : ASTM D 2794 standard
A standard weight drops from varying heights to deform the panel. The result (in Kgcm) indicates resistance to sudden cracking or chipping.
Adhesion (GT=0) : ASTM D 3359
A grid is cut into the film and pulled with specialized tape. A GT=0 rating signifies perfect adhesion with zero coating detachment.
Cupping Test : ISO 1520 standard
A spherical punch slowly pushes into the back of the metal panel. The result measures the depth in millimeters (mm) tolerated before the film fractures.
Flexibility : Visual bend test
Evaluated through a Visual bend test. The panel bends over a cylindrical mandrel of a specific millimeter (mm) radius. The result confirms the coating stretches without cracking.
Hardness & Environmental Resistance
Scratch Hardness : ASTM D 5178 standard
A weighted stylus moves across the coated surface. The result records the weight in kilograms (Kg) required to cut through to the metal substrate.
Pencil Hardness : 2H
Calibrated drawing leads are pushed into the coating at a 45-degree angle. A successful 2H result guarantees excellent daily scratch resistance.
Salt Spray : ASTM: B117/1000+hrs
Panels endure a continuous, heated salt fog environment. The result tracks the hours and minutes (Hrs.min) the coating resists rust and blistering.
